Accessibility Inspection Tool
My first project was a new hypothetical tool requested by the client to help speed up the process of her work flow, which includes frequently making accessibility inspection reports for buildings and construction projects. The current process is problematic in that it involves completing an on-site inspection, driving back to the office, and typing out a report document which can take anywhere from two to five hours in total. The requested tool would help significantly reduce work time by giving the client a mobile app that would allow her to completely finish each report while still at the construction site, as opposed to typing them out at the office or at home.
THE PROCESS
A few obstacles I faced were that this was my first time learning to use Adobe XD, and that there was only one user to consider because the tool was meant to be designed around her individual work process.
First, qualitative research was done in the form of an interview to empathize with the user and get a concept of what her ideal app would be like. The client was a self-described technophobe, so simplicity and intuitive usability were the target.
Next, some sketches were made to give the app some direction before adding the visual design and making the high fidelity mockups.
In order to keep aligned with the client's needs, she and I tested the prototype between rounds of feedback until we were both satisfied with its functionality. As the client has trouble with her vision, large buttons and easy visibility were also important.
Because the tool was meant to be hypothetical it hasn't been developed yet, but will be shortly.

As this was my first project it helped me grow in more ways than one. Not only did it help me learn and practice with Adobe XD but it gave me a general feel for the design process.
